Fun for the whole family! This trip is not a hike but a fun afternoon in historic Madrid NM! Meet at Unity parking lot, 9800 Candelaria NE, ABQ at 12:30 pm and we will caravan from there. This year Madrid features lights and street theater and musicians on it rolling stage. Dress for the weather and bring cash for shopping and food in Madrids many unique shops. Weather permitting.

Did you know that Madrid was among the first towns in the entire U.S. West to have electricity? They were also among the first to hang electrified lights through the town to celebrate the holidays. The mines that were the economic wealth of the town closed and after a times, the electric lights were no longer hung until . . . some enterprising folks found the lights in various places and renewed the tradition that we will enjoy on Sat., Dec. 28th. Note: the end time for the outing is approximate.
