I am so excited to kick off the holiday season with you this year on the first Sunday of Advent!
This
is one of my favorite times of the year. For me, it’s about so much more than Santa Claus or exchanging gifts. It’s about the lights, the sense of community and the music. Most importantly, it’s about the anticipation—the hope of what’s to come.
In a world that can feel so divided, it’s easy to wonder how we can remain grateful. But I believe that’s the heart of this season—the season of light, of preparation, and of welcoming the birth of Christ within us.
What did Jesus teach us to do? He asked us to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul—and to love our neighbors as ourselves. When Jesus walked the Earth, the world was divided, too, with anger and discord all around. Yet, he chose to share love and bring hope.
As we begin this Advent season, we are called to live out those same teachings: to love God, to love our neighbors, and to lift up the oppressed. We are called to care for the poor, the sick, the elderly, the marginalized and to pursue justice. This is our highest calling, and it’s what makes this season so meaningful to me.
I hope you’ll join me this Sunday at 10 AM as we celebrate the First Sunday of Advent. Together, we will welcome the light of Christ and reflect on what it means to birth that light within ourselves as we enter this season of love and light.
I look forward to seeing you there!
