Dear Friends,

This Sunday, October 25, we close our October series on Myrtle Fillmore — and we’re going out with the question of the season: What are you haunted by?

For three weeks Myrtle has led us: I am a child of God. Pray like it’s already true. There is no lack. Now she takes all of it into the one place those truths get tested hardest, the past. The regret that visits at 3 a.m. The grievance rehearsed one time too many. The fear that moved in during childhood and never moved out. The grief that keeps arriving uninvited.

It’s Halloween week, and we’ll have some honest fun with it,  including why the scariest story in the Gospels, about a man living in a cemetery, turns out to be a story about going home. We’ll hear how Myrtle mapped the haunted house of the subconscious, what Jesus did that we skip (he asked the ghost its name first), and what modern brain science says about why old fears come back  and why that’s not your failure.

All this week our sanctuary will also keep a Table of Remembrance. Bring a photograph of someone you love who has passed, and set it among the candles and marigolds for the  difference between a ghost and a guest is that a guest is remembered with love and released in peace.

Bring a friend who’s been living in the tombs. Myrtle would insist.

Myrtle Fillmore Trivia:

In 1936 Charles Fillmore published Prosperity — still in print, still the classic Unity text on supply. Its twelve chapters include "Spiritual Substance, the Fundamental Basis of the Universe," "God Will Pay Your Debts," and "Tithing, the Road to Prosperity."

          The core idea for the book came from Myrtle: you are "the inlet and outlet of Divine Mind" — supply flows through you, not to you. And the guardrail, pure Fillmore: anyone using the knowledge of invisible supply merely to get things for himself "will be disappointed."
