I am excited to invite you to our Diabetes Support Group, that happends on Mondays, from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. This group is designed to support individuals managing Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, as well as their loved ones, in a compassionate and understanding environment.

           Purpose of the Group

The inspiration for forming this group came from my experience helping my mother manage her diabetes. I witnessed the challenges she faced and realized how valuable a supportive community could be for individuals dealing with diabetes. Many people struggle to understand their condition, feel embarrassed discussing it, or lack the tools to manage it effectively. This group aims to address these needs by providing:

Education:

Understanding diabetes, its management, and its potential reversals (in the case of Type 2) through diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.

Support: A safe space for sharing experiences, challenges, and successes.Growth: Encouragement for developing healthier habits and building confidence in managing diabetes.

Why Include Both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes? While Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes differ in causes and treatment approaches, individuals managing Type 1 diabetes can greatly benefit from the group’s support, community, and educational resources.

Topics like nutrition, stress management, and coping strategies are essential for everyone navigating diabetes. Additionally, those with Type 1 diabetes can share their unique experiences, which fosters mutual learning and support within the group.

What to Expect: Our approach incorporates elements of recovery, recognizing that many challenges with Type 2 diabetes are linked to addictive patterns with certain foods and drinks. We will explore these aspects with kindness and care while fostering growth and healing. The group will include:Guest speakers, including naturopathic and Ayurvedic doctors, nutritionists, and diabetic specialists.Discussions guided by the book Healing the Trauma of Addiction with Love, Strength, and Power.Integration of The 16 Steps and The 12 Powers to inspire holistic growth and empowerment.
